Italy bounce back, Iceland record biggest win in an official match

England and Portugal made it two wins out of two in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaigns with victories over Hungary and Luxembourg respectively. Italy bounced back from their opening day defeat to Germany with a comfortable win over Greece, while Iceland recorded their biggest ever win in an official match with a 10-1 rout of Liechtenstein.

England were in impressive form as they beat Hungary 4-0 at Wembley Stadium. Harry Kane scored twice, with Raheem Sterling and Bukayo Saka also on target. Portugal were also in fine fettle as they thrashed Luxembourg 5-0 away from home. Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals, with Joao Felix, Diogo Jota and Bernardo Silva also getting on the scoresheet.

Italy got their campaign back on track with a 3-0 win over Greece in Florence. Federico Chiesa, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Vincenzo Grifo scored the goals for the Azzurri. Iceland recorded their biggest ever win in an official match with a 10-1 rout of Liechtenstein in Reykjavik. Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored four goals, with Birkir Bjarnason, Johann Gudmundsson, Aron Gunnarsson, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Albert Gudmundsson also getting on the scoresheet.

The results leave England and Portugal top of their respective groups, with Italy and Iceland in second place. The qualifying campaign will continue in September with a further round of matches.
