Early Life and Career

Diane Kruger was born Diane Heidkrüger on July 15, 1976, in Algermissen near Hildesheim, Germany. Her mother, Maria, was a bank employee, and her father, Hans-Heinrich Heidkrüger, was a computer specialist.

Kruger began her career as a model at the age of 15. She won the Elite Model Look competition in 1992 and went on to work for major fashion houses such as Dior, Calvin Klein, and Yves Saint Laurent.

In 2001, Kruger made her film debut in The Piano Teacher. She gained international recognition for her performance in Wolfgang Petersen's Troy (2004), where she played Helen of Troy. Since then, she has appeared in a variety of films, including Inglourious Basterds (2009), Unknown (2011), and The Bridge (2013).

Personal Life

In 2001, Kruger married French actor Guillaume Canet. The couple divorced in 2006. She began dating American actor Norman Reedus in 2017, and they got engaged in 2021.

Kruger is also a United Nations Development Program Goodwill Ambassador for Women's Empowerment and Gender Equality.

Awards and Recognition

Kruger has won numerous awards for her acting, including the Bambi Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in an International Film (2004) and the Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television (2013).

In 2017, she was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government.
